Pumpkin Carving

Today is halloween, and we finally got around to carving that pumpkin we got at McKee Ranch on friday night.  This year Summer was brave and actually stuck her hand in the pumpkin, pushed out the eyes and the mouth, and dug almost all of the seeds and guts out.  A proud moment to be sure!  Last year she cringed and wanted nothing to do with it but this year she said it was fun :o)  Pepper helped a little bit, she somehow managed to pick up the slimy pumpkin seeds off the tile floor, I guess because she has small fingers?  She kept taking the mouth piece to Kris who told her to bring it back to me (and to the trash bag).  It was fun - I can't wait to light it up tonight!

McKee Ranch

Just south of town is the McKee Ranch, a place we have visited for the last 5 years.  I guess it is tradition.  You pay $20 per family and you get to have lots of fun, feed the animals, pose for pictures, climb the huge hay tower, take a hay ride and for $5 you get a pony ride.  They had about 15 horses (or more) this year to feed.  Summer was scared at first, can you imagine that?   We had the girls pose for lots of pictures, chase chickens, watch bunnies hopping around, go down the slide, pick out a pumpkin that is still in the back of my trunk.  Anyway it is always a lot of fun, we spend about an hour walking around doing this and that and stopping here, there and there to take pictures.  Chances are we will do it again next year.

Halloween Costume Party

For the past few years I have thrown a halloween costume party at our house, mostly because I love parties, and I love costumes, and halloween, and taking pictures, and little kids, and cupcakes - well you get the idea.  This year there were 25 kids at the house (four were not in the photo),  4 were babies under a year, the youngest puppy was 6 months :o)  Aren't they a cute bunch!  We played games, ate, and the kids jumped and jumped and jumped on the trampoline.  We have had the trampoline for almost 2 years and it has been the best thing ever.  We have to replace the blue padding around the edge because the sun is rotting it away, imagine that, Vegas sun.  I think we all had a great day :o)

Cupcakes and Chili

Halloween is right around the corner and our halloween party is tomorrow!  I am not ready either :o( I still have to bake and decorate 48 cupcakes and make a chili in the morning - hopefully I get it done in time.  Today the girls and I cleaned up the backyard and since they were both in a good mood we did a mini photo shoot with them wearing their halloween dresses that they will never wear again.  You got to love seasonal clothing.

Texas in October

80th birthdays are super special, especially when its your grandma, or Kris's!  We traveled to Texas last week to help Marilyn celebrate 80 years and got to visit with everyone.  When we got there it was cold, it was a good thing we packed our jackets (or in my case wore it) but by the end of our trip things had warmed up there and we came home to cold temperatures and horrible winds, go figure. Here are some pictures of the girls having a good old time!
