Three Years Old

At a whopping 37.5 pounds (38 at the end of the day) and 39 1/2 inches, my daughter is officially a three year old toddler. No more free or fun little discounts I am afraid, I am going to be paying more for her food and fun things we do. Besides that -being three means she might start remembering things, therefore we are going to have to do a lot more things together. Ok, maybe she won't be remembering things just yet but soon, and you never know when those memories are going to start retaining information.

Her birthday was a huge success. She woke up to the sound of 3 mylar balloons floating around in her room. She was a bit amazed and screamed for daddy to come look, it was balloons. Since it was only 6:15 daddy continued to sleep while I went up and shared in her excitement. There was a princess balloon, a mickey mouse balloon, and a tweety bird balloon, and she had no clue who tweety bird was. She also had a little gift bag tied to the balloons and inside it were a few small toys, some princess figurines, a pony, some candy, and a card. Papa got Summer a Strawberry Shortcake card that upon opening sang Happy Birthday. The card was a big hit.

Most of the morning was spent hanging around the house playing while I decorated the princess castle cake she said she wanted. Good thing she isn't a picky child, the cake looked ok but nothing like I pictured.

Besides the cake I had 24 cupcakes decorated to look like rainbows, or rainbow colors, and flowers using marshmellows. I was much more impressed with the cupcakes.

After a lunch and a nap we waited for the party to actually start - we were celebrating her birthday at the bouncy house and I invited every single little friend she had. We managed to get the cake to the party somehow, and almost everyone I invited showed up to bounce and help us celebrate.

Summer had a blast, she really enjoyed everything about her party. She was running around like a crazy energetic little girl, to the point her hair and shirt were soaked with sweat. She wasn't the only one sweating, most of the adults went through the bouncy houses a few times and were just as hot, including myself. Luckily Summer went through most of the toys herself after I went with her a few times, I am not sure I would have lived to go on it as much as she did.

After 80 minutes spent jumping, which was plenty of time, we headed to the party room to do the cake and gifts. Summer got to sit in a blow up birthday chair and could not have been more thrilled.

Everyone sang to her while she grinned and looked at her cupcake, the one she picked out, and waited until she could blow out those three sparkling candles.

She blew out the candles, they were a little tricky and she isn't great at blowing so it took her a few tries, but she enjoyed it.

After her candles were out she joined her friends at the table and enjoyed her cupcake and a drink. The kids also had glow in the dark braclets sitting next to their spots and almost everyone thought they were straws and tried to drink out of them, oops!

I counted 14 kids seated at the table and there were also 4 or 5 babies in the group that were being held. After the cupcakes were eaten Summer was able to sit in the cool birthday chair again and open her gifts. She did a really good job opening them with only a little bit of help. She was also really good about saying Thank You after opening each gift.

After gifts were opened she had some of her friends sit with her and take a few photos.

They were all so cute at the party. We packed up and left, stopped at Wendy's for some dinner and made it home by 8:15. It was so late that Summer didn't even get a chance to play with her gifts, she did put on the princess dress and princess shoes and we saved the rest of the gifts for today.

I think it was a great birthday, Summer had a wonderful time and so did most of her friends. She actually told me today that she had enough birthday so I guess we strung it out as much as we possibly could. Now to start planning for next year!

What an awesome birthday. The pictures are great, and some of those cupcakes are very tempting. And good point about the remembering things, I am always surprised by how much Punky remembers from when she was 3 or 4.
